One category of consumers will lose their benefits, which means an increase in utility tariffs in Kyiv.
Although the overall utility tariffs in Kyiv will remain unchanged, preferential rates will no longer apply, so some residents will end up paying more, Politeka.net reports.
Here’s what to expect in May:
Starting from May 1, residential consumers will continue to pay the current rate for electricity — 4.32 UAH per kWh, according to a resolution by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The document had initially fixed the price until the end of April, but the government has decided to keep the rate unchanged going forward.
However, the preferential rate for households using electric heating systems will be cancelled. Previously, they paid 2.64 UAH per kWh for usage up to 2000 kWh per month, with the standard rate applying beyond that threshold. Now, this category will face an increase in utility tariffs in Kyiv, as they will be subject to a flat rate of 4.32 UAH per kWh without any discounts.
The price of natural gas for households remains stable at 7.96 UAH per cubic meter. Supply at this fixed rate is provided by Naftogaz, which services the majority of household consumers in Ukraine. The government has extended this pricing plan until October 31, 2025.
The government assures that there are no plans to increase the cost of gas — at least not until the end of martial law and for six months afterward.
