Political expert and military serviceman Oleksandr Musiyenko explained that the Easter truce was a clear attempt to play into Trump’s hands, aiming to shift pressure from Russia onto Ukraine, Politeka reports.

He shared this view in his blog.

According to the expert, the Easter truce has ended, and Putin did not extend it, having rejected President Zelensky’s proposal. Still, Musiyenko notes, Trump continues to hope that Ukraine and Russia will reach an agreement this week, likely concerning a ceasefire and further negotiations, which are expected to be discussed during consultations in London.

"This can be called a fake Easter truce initiated by Putin, carried out as an informational and psychological operation to show the U.S. and Trump that they should not step away from negotiations, that Russia is supposedly interested in keeping the U.S. involved. Of course, why wouldn’t Putin be interested? The point is that the Americans would then pressure Ukraine," Musiyenko explains.

In other words, he concludes, in order for Trump to stay in the talks and apply pressure on Ukraine, Putin created an information backdrop in which the U.S. wouldn’t appear weak — essentially helping Trump. Musiyenko reminds us that Russia seriously studies psychological influence methods and knows how to hit a nerve and exploit it effectively. At the same time, he notes that Western media are siding with Ukraine, actively quoting Zelensky and accusing Russia of violating the truce.

"From the standpoint of informational warfare and influence, Ukraine won this round. We prevailed in the information space — Western media clearly indicate and show that Ukraine is in the right, and that Putin is violating the very truce he proposed. What more is there to say?" Oleksandr Musiyenko concludes.
