Journalist Kateryna Kotenkova spoke about key changes in Ukraine from May 1, which concern subsidies, tariffs, payments to IDPs and more, Politeka reports.
As the journalist notes, from May 1, subsidies for the non-heating season will be automatically reassigned to most households, but some people will still need to submit a new application. According to her, these are tenants of housing, displaced persons, families where fewer people actually live than registered, and those who were assigned a zero subsidy last year.
“The general tariff for electricity will not change, but users of electric heating will lose the benefit. Instead of 2.64 UAH per kWh, if up to 2,000 kWh per month, it will now be 4.32 UAH. That is, they are simply taking away the benefit from people. That's all,” says Kateryna Kotenkova.
Also, the journalist notes, there have been changes to traffic lights, a new DSTU standard will come into effect on May 1 - the green color will become emerald, instead of solid arrows there will be chevrons, green on a black background, and there will be shared bicycle and pedestrian traffic lights for convenience. According to her, old traffic lights will not be replaced with new ones, this applies only to new facilities or reconstruction.
“IDP payments. What will change from May 1? The government continues financial assistance for internally displaced persons for another 4 months without the need to submit new applications for those who already receive payments. The assistance is part of the “Winter Support” program. Those who apply for the first time can issue an IDP certificate and submit an application through “Diya”, ASNAP or protection bodies. If the family does not meet the standard criteria due to income or property, you can confirm the right to assistance with documents,” explains Kateryna Kotenkova.
