Journalist Kateryna Kotenkova reveals whether taxes will be raised in Ukraine before war ends and points to important issue of subsoil agreement with US, Politeka reports.
According to the journalist, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance Hetmantsev stated that changes in the tax system can only take place after martial law ends. And when asked about the possibility of a point increase in taxes, in particular VAT, before the end of the current Verkhovna Rada term, she notes, Hetmantsev replied categorically that he sees no grounds for this.
“According to him, the priority task is to adopt an EU directive requiring digital platform operators to collect information about sellers. Regarding further changes in the tax system, the MP referred to the national revenue strategy until 2030, which clearly outlines the stages of reform. The first stage involves reforming the Customs Tax Service, and the second - changes to the tax system in general, in particular the reform of personal income taxation. However, according to Hetmantsev, this will all happen only after the end of martial law,” says Kateryna Kotenkova.
As she notes, the Verkhovna Rada voted for the agreement on subsoil with the USA, on the creation of a joint fund for the extraction of Ukrainian subsoil. It would seem, the journalist explains, that there is nothing wrong with it, except that the deputies voted, in fact, blindly, because they were not allowed to familiarize themselves with the two agreements that describe the mechanisms for managing the fund, distributing profits, etc.
“The very idea of creating a fund, attracting American investments for the development of Ukrainian subsoil, is good, it is supported by many experts. Moreover, it makes it possible to stop the practice when the oligarchs sat down on subsoil extraction, and Ukraine simply received pennies. This is a big plus. But the minus is that we do not know what we voted for,” concludes Kateryna Kotenkova.
