Military expert Oleg Starikov explained why Russia never carried out the previously announced training launch of the Yars intercontinental missile on the eve of Putin's conversation with Trump, Politeka reports.
He talked about this on his channel.
"These systems are designed for a retaliatory strike. And indeed, there are 3-4 individual warheads, each with a power of 300 to 500 kilotons. A little background information - the explosion on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was 10 kilotons. Can you imagine how powerful that is? And even more so the separating warhead. This weapon is terrible, scary," Oleg Starikov says.
He also notes that according to the 1988 agreements between the United States and the USSR, that is, Russia as the successor, the parties are obliged to notify each other about such training launches. As the expert explains, notification 24 hours before the launch is necessary so that the other side does not consider this strike the first one, which starts a nuclear war.
"Notification, then comes the closure of airspace. But there was no data on the launch, there was no closure of airspace either. I also checked this, there is nothing like that. Apparently, this situation was connected with the information component. That is, we are already moving into the area of information warfare, information-psychological operations and combat propaganda," explains Oleg Starikov.
So, the expert states, most likely, all these were enemy IPSO, then let the politicians and diplomats figure out whether they will write notes or not. But as for this situation in general, he notes, there is nothing strange, because countries that have nuclear weapons regularly conduct training launches, notify each other about them, the main thing here is that they are not just combat ones.
