Political expert and military officer Oleksandr Musienko said that Russia continues terrorist attacks on Ukraine, but there are changes in approaches to shelling, movement of suicide bombers, and trajectory, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this in his blog.
As the expert explains, enemy drones fly at an altitude of 4-5 km, and when they approach the target, they increase speed and dive. In addition, he notes, there are cases when drones simply start to hang in the air, the engines turn off, and they can fall, explode or cause some damage with their weight.
“From the point of view of shooting down, it is obvious that when a drone flies higher, it is more difficult for mobile fire groups to work on it with machine guns, because they do not reach such heights. Sometimes even anti-aircraft guns cannot reach them. Both army aviation and Ukrainian helicopters are working, which shoot down. One of the best ways to shoot down such drones is the example of Israel and the countries that help it shoot down drones launched by Iran. And in fact, this is aviation, these are air-to-air missiles. But this requires more missiles and more aircraft. And in general, if we had more anti-aircraft missile systems and missiles for them, it would be possible and would be more effective to counteract drones,” explains Oleksandr Musienko.
Also, the expert says, the difficulty of shooting down shaheeds lies in the fact that they wind circles, replan routes, trying to mislead our air defense systems, so it is really difficult to counteract them.
“But our forces are now studying and generalizing this experience, developing means of how to improve and increase the effectiveness of work on shooting down drones. Because there are difficulties, we must speak frankly, certain difficulties are being recorded, but the work continues and will continue," Oleksandr Musienko concludes.
