Military expert Oleg Starikov explained that after World War II the West demilitarized, so it is difficult to raise their morale now against the backdrop of new threats, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this on his channel.
"The demilitarization of the European Union countries, which began after the end of World War II with Nazi Germany, led to the fact that the percentage of men who want to go into military service is very small," says Oleg Starikov.
As he recalls, in the 1960s, all men served in the army, and girls went to study at institutes in the military, in the military-industrial complex, then humanities universities were not popular, but now everything has changed. And in Europe, the expert emphasizes, even more so, 70% of GDP is the service sector, people there live a rich and calm life, no one goes to the factory at 6 am, there are high technologies, and it is almost impossible to militarize them again.
“Germany has brought it to the point that they currently have only 2.5 combat divisions in the Bundeswehr. They have slightly larger divisions than we do, but only 2.5 divisions: one mechanized, one tank and another half of one. Where is the Prussian spirit, the Prussian step, the Prussians who drove the whole of Europe into fear in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries? The First and Second World Wars... And there is no one. Now who will go to the army? But they live well, social benefits. For many, this will be a revelation, but in Europe now, by the way, as in America, there is socialism. They have exactly the same socialism that the Soviet Union built,” explains Oleg Starikov. This is precisely why, the expert claims, Trump held a parade in honor of the 250th anniversary of the formation of the US Army, because this is an increase in the authority of military personnel, he showed the army to the people, in particular, women and children, and this is already a psychological step, an element of military-patriotic education.
