Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman stated that Trump has finally changed his policy — now all his grievances are directed at Russia, and the Kremlin is trying to both wriggle out and issue threats, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this on his blog.
“When Rutte became NATO Secretary General, I had high hopes for him. Later, when he started flirting with Trump, I began to mock him. But today I understand it was all part of the game — Rutte chose to play it this way, and he had the right to, because we judge by results. And here is the result: weapons are being delivered through NATO. And Rutte is undoubtedly one of the co-organizers of this, and one of the initiators as well. All this time, Rutte was turning Trump toward Ukraine. And he told us that he saw how Trump was shifting,” Sheitelman emphasized.
It was precisely during the meeting with Rutte, he recalls, that Trump made important statements about Russia — that he was dissatisfied with Putin and was giving him 50 days to make peace, or else face sanctions. And in Russia, the expert notes, there’s already been a flurry of reactions: in particular, Simonyan began scaring everyone with nuclear bombs, and Solovyov proposed striking factories in Europe.
Dmitriev, who was once seen as a hopeful figure in Russia, he says, claimed that Biden’s mistakes and deceit would be corrected — essentially saying something totally off-topic. Medvedev declared that Russia doesn’t care about this theatrical ultimatum, likely hoping Trump will respond to him again. Peskov said they need time to analyze, and if Putin decides, he will comment.
“And then he says that Moscow is waiting for a proposal from Kyiv to hold a third round of peace talks. We’re not interested in your historian-style talks about the year 1250. Neither America, nor NATO, nor the EU care. What third round? You want to sit down again with your Medinsky and snore? Umerov is leaving for the U.S. as ambassador — he can’t waste time on this anymore. Shmyhal is now busy transferring weapons. Who should we send to you? The chairman of the writers' union?” Sheitelman concluded.
