Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman stated that South Korea is planning to build its own lunar base by 2045, and expressed the belief that Ukraine, after the war with Russia, could achieve the same. This was reported by Politeka and discussed in his blog.

"I'm very happy for the South Koreans — that they have such opportunities, that they managed to build a country capable of creating a permanent space base on the Moon. I'm happy for the South Koreans that they're not North Koreans. Because right now, while the South Koreans are building a lunar base, the North Koreans are dying in the Kursk region. The South Koreans chose this path," emphasized Mikhail Sheitelman.

On the other hand, the expert noted, it’s a bit disheartening — because Ukraine could have, and should have, been in South Korea’s place. Yes, he acknowledged, over the years of independence we’ve had flaws in our state governance. But if Russia hadn’t attacked us, we could very well be working on space technologies today, developing in that field.

"The most important thing is not to miss our new opportunity. That is, after victory over Russia, after its defeat, after Ukraine defends its territorial integrity and independence, we’re getting a second chance. A second chance to become like South Korea. Because during the war, we’ve advanced our technologies. I believe that if the Russians had an oil depot on the Moon, we would have already bombed it with our drones. If they had built a refinery there, we would have destroyed it — because when push came to shove, we developed technologies that the entire world now envies," Sheitelman stated.

Therefore, he concluded, after the war Ukraine must remember its capabilities — particularly in the space sector. On Earth, he noted, we’ve fought against North Korea and lived next to them — and we’ll remain neighbors, because they and the Russians are one people. But on the Moon, we have a chance to be neighbors with South Korea.
