Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko explained that the talks in Istanbul will once again focus on the humanitarian track, as Russia does not seek real peace, Politeka reports.

He shared his views in his blog.

As President Zelensky stated, the expert notes, Ukraine is ready to work as productively as possible for the sake of releasing prisoners, returning abducted children, stopping the killings, and preparing a meeting of leaders to truly end the war.

“Based on the statement by the President of Ukraine, it is natural that there are no inflated expectations regarding the meeting in Istanbul — nor can there be. Accordingly, the agenda will most likely focus on continuing the humanitarian track, discussing prisoner exchanges and the return of Ukrainian children,” Musiienko says.

In his opinion, it is possible that the delegations in Istanbul will also touch upon the issue of a ceasefire or truce. But how realistic is it, and how much progress can be achieved in this regard? That remains an open question due to Russia’s counterproductive stance.

“At the same time, this will once again expose the lies and insincerity of Russia’s position. As we know, the enemy constantly manipulates this issue. The enemy tries to impose conditions that are clearly unacceptable to us. This needs to be shown to our partners, and we need to say: ‘Look, we keep trying — including during the 50-day ultimatum Trump gave to Putin. We are making efforts, but Russia remains counterproductive,’” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
