Political expert and military serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko explained that the U.S. President's special envoy's trip to Russia is another round of shuttle diplomacy that will delay the imposition of sanctions, Politeka reports.
He shared his thoughts in his blog:
"Right now, after visiting Israel, he’s heading to Russia. So what are we witnessing? Another round of shuttle diplomacy, something we’ve already seen throughout the spring and early summer. Witkoff is going to Russia — he's resuming his role in this issue. Well, of course, things have settled down in the Middle East, the war has ended," Musiienko noted.
As for Ukraine, the expert suggests that Keith Kellogg might come here again, although he recently paid a long visit to the country. Musiienko points out that Kellogg got familiar with the real situation on the ground, was shown many useful and important things, and held talks at the highest levels — so the Ukrainian position is now clear and well explained. Now Witkoff is going to Russia.
“We can expect another twist in the story. Trump is definitely going to wait until Witkoff meets with Putin. Until then, no sanctions will be introduced — we need to be aware of and understand this. And again, we’ll see some delays. But still, there is hope for the American deep state, hope for the American establishment and political class, who clearly see the threats that today’s Russia, in alliance with China, North Korea, and Iran, poses to U.S. national security and to European security. It’s impossible not to notice. And eventually, they will adjust the U.S. administration's policy,” Musiienko explained.
The expert adds that Trump is trying to reconcile Ukraine and Russia at any cost, but such reconciliation is impossible — the Russians aim to destroy Ukrainians, and they can only be stopped through force.
