Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman explained that Europe wants American fighter jets stationed at a base in Romania not only because of the Russia-Ukraine war, but more broadly due to threats from Russia, reports Politeka.

He shared this in his blog.

According to the expert, The Times writes that European countries want American F-35 fighter jets to be deployed in Romania. He notes that this was discussed at a meeting of NATO generals with Europeans, and the conversation was clearly about the overall architecture of European security, not necessarily tied directly to Ukraine.

“So, what should be done now? What will NATO’s configuration in Europe look like? Surely, the deployment of large missiles in Finland and Estonia was also discussed, because it will be necessary to strike Moscow and St. Petersburg quickly—not in residential areas, of course, but at military targets. Kronstadt, Severomorsk, all of that will have to be hit immediately. Pskov, and so on. War with the Russian Federation is inevitable. I think that’s what this is about,” Sheitelman explains.

Now, the expert notes, Europeans have a new demand—a new request: the top military leaders of Europe are asking Americans to deploy F-35 fighters in Romania, where NATO is building its largest airbase in Europe, to deter a renewed Russian invasion.

“Right now, they’re carrying out some missions from the Romanian base, but they specifically need F-35s. That’s a lot of money, a lot of technology, a lot of pilots. But in return, it’s a guarantee of security, because no Russians will dare to interfere. They definitely won’t try to advance from Belarus into Poland or from Transnistria into Moldova, because just two F-35s will incinerate the Russian army completely,” concludes Mikhail Sheitelman.
