Military expert Oleh Starikov stated that the Russians did not take into account the archetype of Ukrainians when attacking our country, and now they are fighting against the most dangerous opponent — the survivor, Politeka reports.
He shared this on his channel.
According to the expert, when planning the invasion, the Russian General Staff clearly did not consider how the Ukrainian archetype would work — those who resisted the arrival of a foreign soldier. In other words, the Russians overestimated themselves and underestimated their enemy. That is why, he notes, in 2022 the Russians had to retreat from Kyiv and later flee from the Kharkiv and Kherson directions, because the Ukrainian archetype is that of the hero-defender, which triggered mass voluntary mobilization.
“After 1,000 days of war, Ukrainian society has faced deep exhaustion — both physical and psychological. However, despite high levels of stress, burnout among soldiers, apathy and anxiety in the rear, part of the citizens still believe that the country must reclaim all lost territories. This is a phenomenon. Fatigue does not lead to capitulation, but to the transformation of the archetype,” Starikov emphasizes.
At present, the expert notes, the front is stable, the command has adopted a tactic of mobile defense, and although tactical crises develop in some sectors, flare-ups are quickly contained by redeploying reserves, and the situation stabilizes — meaning there is no collapse of the front. Meanwhile, in the occupied territories, he says, despite repressions, Ukrainian partisans continue sabotage and diversions. People in the rear, he adds, support the army despite exhaustion — this is daily struggle, the archetype of the silent warrior.
“Fatigue is not the end of resistance but its mutation. When the archetype of the hero burns out, it is replaced by one who does not seek glory but also does not surrender. This is especially dangerous for an enemy counting on demoralization. When a people lose faith in victory, they become weak, they become unpredictable. The archetype of the survivor is not capitulation, but a refusal to play by someone else’s rules. And this may be the most dangerous opponent for a rational force,” Oleh Starikov explains.
