Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko has reported that Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have blown up a pipeline used by Russian troops to advance toward Kupiansk. However, he noted that the situation remains difficult, according to Politeka.
He shared this information on his blog.
According to the commander of the 429th Separate Achilles Drone Regiment, Fedorenko, as cited by Musiienko, the gas pipeline used by Russian forces to approach Kupiansk was destroyed. He also mentioned that this is not the first time the pipeline has been disabled, so we’ll see whether the enemy is able to restore it. Since the pipeline is located in temporarily occupied territory, he adds, Ukrainian forces cannot dig it up, and the enemy continues attacking with artillery and drones.
"This really characterizes the situation in Kupiansk," Musiienko commented. "The fact is, the enemy has been putting pressure there for a long time with drones, glide bombs, artillery… Since 2023, the adversary has been conducting active offensive operations in this direction, and it’s very difficult to get close. Our forces are continuing a containment operation in this sector."
Overall, the expert notes that Ukraine’s operational success lies in preventing the enemy from achieving its operational goals. Therefore, he emphasizes, within the framework of a strategic defensive operation, the goal of the UAF is to prevent a breakthrough by the enemy.
"The enemy’s operational success today is defined by Russia’s goal and dream of capturing Donetsk and Luhansk regions within their administrative boundaries. That is exactly what needs to be prevented, and our forces are currently working on that. Holding back these two offensives — which President Zelensky has referred to — until the end of the year, and essentially ensuring what we could cautiously call relative stabilization along the front line — that could be considered our success at this stage," Musiienko concluded.
