Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko said that despite proposals from various countries, Putin continues to reject a meeting with Zelensky and appears to be ramping up military preparations, Politeka reports.
He shared this in his blog.
According to the expert, the President of Kazakhstan stated that he is ready to provide a platform for negotiations between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia if both sides request it and show readiness to meet. However, Musiienko notes, this news can be disregarded, as Putin still won’t agree to travel anywhere to meet with Zelensky — we need to be realistic about that.
"Putin is rejecting all of Kyiv’s proposals for talks and is threatening further escalation. Peskov came out and said that the so-called Kyiv regime has now taken an entirely passive stance, trying to demonstrate to all their sponsors in Europe and their curators that they can fight — but they should not forget that with each passing day, as the Ukrainian side… well, and on it goes. He also denied Trump’s statement in which he called Russia a paper tiger. And who are they? Everything is clear with them," – says Oleksandr Musiienko.
Meanwhile, the expert notes, the Russian State Duma has begun taking certain steps indicating that Putin might be preparing to prolong the war. Specifically, it passed in the first reading a draft law that envisions conscription for military service throughout the entire year — from January 1 to December 31. According to him, this is either preparation for a longer war or an attempt to make us think that way. The law has only passed the first reading, and what happens in the second is still unknown, but the warning sign is already there.
"In this context, we also need to reflect — especially when decisions are being made about opening the borders, allowing those aged 18–22 to leave, and so on. We need to think about this, because the enemy is taking certain steps aimed at Russian youth. They are preparing soldiers, and we need to understand that," – Musiienko emphasizes.
