Political expert and military serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko said that Ukraine is no longer just strengthening its air defenses for protection, but is also carrying out symmetrical strikes — a partial blackout in Belgorod, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this in his blog.

According to the expert, strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the energy infrastructure of Belgorod Oblast caused blackouts in a number of settlements; in Belgorod there were intermittent disruptions to electricity and water supplies. He also adds that problems occurred in Bryansk Oblast, since local public pages reported hits on a thermal power plant (CHP) and other energy infrastructure facilities.
“That is, we see a difference compared to 2022, 2023, even 2024, when the enemy attacked our energy sector — we also attacked targets on Russian territory, but they were not energy facilities. Now the situation is changing. The enemy attacks us systematically. We will strike back,” Oleksandr Musiienko emphasizes.

However, the expert notes, this will not immediately mean victory in the sense that, unfortunately, there are many facilities on Russian territory and a system of generation — the enemy can restore these systems. And clearly, he states, if Russia was not able to fully blackout us despite powerful strikes since the end of 2022, then it will be difficult for us as well.

“But at least this is an element of deterrence. At least we are not simply talking about reactive measures, when we strengthen air defenses and try to shoot down as many Russian targets as possible. We have an active defense at the front, when we repel attacks, inflict maximum losses on the enemy, and carry out tactical counterattacks where we can. The same applies to deep strikes. We strike back. That is precisely active defense,” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
