Political expert and military serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko said that Ukraine is currently expecting good news regarding weapons deliveries. While an announcement about Tomahawk missiles may come later, the U.S. is ready to invest, Politeka reports.
He shared this in his blog.
According to the expert, ahead of the NATO–Ukraine Council meeting and the upcoming “Ramstein” format talks, U.S. Ambassador to NATO Julianne Smith (referred to as Whitaker in Ukrainian transcription) said we should expect good news on weapons. Musiienko speculates that this may include Tomahawk missiles, among other arms, though he cautions against focusing solely on them, as they represent more of a symbolic image—an indicator of growing U.S. support for Ukraine.
“Whitaker made that statement, but I don’t think that—if we’re specifically talking about the Tomahawk missiles—the announcement will be made directly today, October 15. It would probably be more appropriate to do it on October 17. Possibly, Trump himself will want to make the announcement, especially since Zelensky’s visit to the U.S. for negotiations has been confirmed. So, maybe then,” Oleksandr Musiienko speculates.
However, he notes, the form is secondary—the essence is what truly matters. And the essence, he emphasizes, is that the United States is prepared to contribute in a way that will significantly strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine—both on the front lines and in terms of long-range strike capabilities inside Russian territory.
