Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman stated that the peace talks have turned into a gastronomic excursion because there is always some kind of dinner — and never any results, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this on his blog.
“Dmitriev took Kushner and Witkoff around Moscow, dragged them into a restaurant, and they were served kulebyaka, venison fillet, charlotte, and posekunchiki. I went on Wikipedia to find out what these posekunchiki are. It says that in the Perm region they have such posekunchiki, but basically they’re the same as chebureki. So they fed them chebureki again. Not Cheburashkas, not Cheboksary — chebureki. Last time, remember, Witkoff also ate chebureki, but to disguise it they called them posekunchiki. Why is so much attention being given to posekunchiki, chebureki, Cheburashkas, and Cheboksary? Because this meeting had no other substance. Just those miserable posekunchiki, the Metropol, and all that unnecessary stuff,” Sheitelman comments.
To stay within the culinary theme, the expert notes, one should recall the words of U.S. Secretary of War Hegseth after the talks — that he wants Trump, Putin, and Zelensky to meet over dinner, be served steaks and a salad with Russian dressing — a dinner for the sake of peace. Moreover, he reminds, it became known that during negotiations Witkoff served Umerov stuffed cabbage rolls and borscht, and now we’re hearing about steak and a salad with some sort of Russian dressing.
As for the negotiations themselves, the expert notes, they lasted five hours and obviously ended with nothing, because Witkoff wasn’t waving papers declaring that he had agreed on everything, as he did last time. Instead, he says, Ushakov stated that no compromise was reached, but also noted that Moscow had received four more documents in addition to the original 28-point U.S. plan.
“Wait, stop. So Witkoff brought the Russians those 28 points — which we did not agree to — and four more documents. Apparently, these are what we wrote in Switzerland, in Florida, with the Europeans… And the same 28 again. You know, when Trump used the word ‘mess,’ I didn’t believe it. He said the word ‘mess.’ Yes, this has really turned into a mess — a circus, a confusion, chaos. Witkoff and Kushner bring Putin a 28-point plan that Ushakov himself wrote together with Dmitriev, which we didn’t agree to, and which Rubio changed afterwards… Seriously?” Sheitelman concludes.
