Political strategist Mykhailo Sheitelman stated that the Trump administration simply does not want to see that Putin does not want peace, and with such a strategy the war cannot be ended — at least not without China, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this on his blog.

According to the expert, while everyone in the Kremlin is saying that the U.S. peace plan does not suit them and that there is no compromise, Trump in the White House says that Whitcoff and Kushner got the impression during the talks that Putin wants peace, wants to return to normal life, and trade with the United States. In his view, this contains not even a grain of logic, because Putin had a normal life and trade with the U.S. before the war, and now Russian troops continue to fire — meaning the Trump administration no longer believes either the words or the actions.

“Unfortunately, my predictions turned out to be very accurate. Trump is once again lost to us. I hope only temporarily, but most likely this means that for the next three years we will be limping along. We will have to live to the end of Trump’s term. Putin held out until the end of Biden’s term. Now our task is to hold out until the end of Trump’s term. You’ll tell me, ‘Another three years of war?’ Does anyone see any other options at all? Do they even exist in nature? The more I look around and listen, the more I see nothing else,” Sheitelman claims.

And the second sensation from Trump, he notes, is his statement that “it takes two to tango.” First, the expert says, it is unclear from the statement whom he means — does it imply that Ukraine is not ready while Putin is, or the other way around? Second, perhaps he is referring to China, since Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi was in Moscow during the negotiations.

“When I say that there are no preconditions today (editor’s note — for peace) and that we may have to wait out Trump’s term, that does not necessarily mean it must be so. It does not mean there is no way out. It means that today, Trump’s methods will not work. Whitcoff’s endless trips to Putin will not achieve peace. But this does not mean that tomorrow there will not be a different approach to this problem. For example, an approach through China. That, of course, would be a different conversation,” Mykhailo Sheitelman reflects.
