Political analyst and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko assessed the United Kingdom’s intention to develop ballistic missiles for Ukraine and explained what quantities and timelines might be involved, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

According to the expert, the British newspaper Daily Mail writes that the United Kingdom intends to transfer long-range ballistic missiles to Ukraine capable of destroying targets at distances of over 300 miles—about 500 km. The Nightfall missiles, he continues, are equipped with 200-kilogram warheads and can be launched sequentially, reaching as far as Moscow, meaning they could become a valuable asset in the fight against Russia.

“This is good news, but there are questions. First, the number of missiles. The British Ministry of Defence is developing ballistic missiles for Ukraine almost from scratch. They are currently looking for British companies to design and supply just the first three test missiles under a £9 million contract. That means one missile costs about £3 million,” Oleksandr Musiienko notes.

According to the expert, such support from Britain is important because the White House—both Trump and Vance—treat the British Crown with respect and generally take the United Kingdom’s opinion into account.

“As for ballistic missiles, it’s about the transfer of an experimental batch. How quickly production will be established and how soon we will receive them is still unclear. But what is clear is that Britain intends to produce and transfer to Ukraine at least a thousand drones of various types, including Octopus interceptor drones. That is good news. It’s genuinely good that there is such support, but the quantities are what they are, and the timing is still unknown,” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
