Political analyst and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko explained that Putin will drag out the war at least until spring, and Trump apparently agrees, which is why he is shifting the focus away from Ukraine, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

“Essentially, Putin has been given time to prolong this war without additional pressure—this is no longer even being discussed. Just look: Trump has not mentioned the Russian-Ukrainian war even once for at least a week. The items on the agenda are Iran, Venezuela, Greenland, the domestic agenda—but not Ukraine. Putin is dragging out the war. It is clear that, at a minimum, he wants to stall until spring, maneuvering in various ways,” Oleksandr Musiienko claims.

According to the expert, it is now impossible to say how long the war will last; it defies forecasting, there are absolutely no controllable factors, and the war is currently at its highest level of escalation. The period of negotiations will be the most difficult. Therefore, he concludes, one should not expect Russia to demonstrate steps toward ending the war now—no, there will be escalation, there will be pressure aimed at forcing Ukraine into unpopular decisions, concessions, and compromises.

“And it seems that, indirectly, Trump is comfortable with such a situation. Sorry, but that’s a fact. Go ahead, fight, pressure Ukraine, finish off Ukrainians, and in the end let them accept any Trump plan—28 points, 20, 25. That’s how it looks. And the tankers were seized—no one will say there are grounds to doubt it. Perhaps there really was a deal in Alaska last August, which the Russians so often refer to and demand that its conditions be fulfilled? Yes, they probably existed. That is why there is no such pressure on Russia now, and Putin is getting time to terrorize the Ukrainian civilian population,” Oleksandr Musiienko explains.

And that is precisely why, the expert concludes, Trump is looking for other options for himself—Iran, Venezuela, Greenland, the economy, tariffs, and so on—in order to avoid answering questions about what is going on with Putin, why he has not been abducted, why Ukraine has not been given Tomahawk missiles, why sanctions have not been imposed on Rosatom, and why Russia’s oil industry has not been destroyed. As for Iran, he notes, Western media write that Russia is losing strategically, but no—for Putin this does not matter; only Ukraine matters.
