Military expert Oleh Starikov said that Ukraine is using a strategy once employed by President Richard Nixon in the 1960s to push its partners into action.

He spoke about this on his channel.

As the expert emphasizes, war is not only about combat operations but also about the information component. Analyzing Ukraine’s actions after Trump stated that he was withdrawing from Biden’s war, he notes that Ukraine’s president is using an American strategy.

“This strategy was used by President Richard Nixon in the 1960s when he was winding down the Vietnam War. He used this strategy against the Soviet Union and North Vietnam,” Oleh Starikov claims.

According to him, it looks like this: demonstrating rationality, showing steadfastness, hinting at uncontrolled escalation and the impossibility of concessions, playing on fears (strikes on Russia’s strategic facilities), and appealing to the responsibility of allies (they must provide assistance).

The goal, the expert explains, is, first, to push allies to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and supply us with more weapons; second, to preserve domestic legitimacy while making concessions — that is, “we are against it, but we were forced”; and third, he adds, to maintain hope that Russia will eventually collapse.
