Military expert Oleg Starikov said that all of today’s regional wars could merge into a world war, while major players in international politics do not know what to do — they remain silent and watch, Politeka reports.
He spoke about this on his channel.
“The Russian-Ukrainian war was the first; now the war in the Middle East is the second. But somehow everyone forgets that there was also the Afghan-Pakistani one. For some reason we’ve forgotten about it, yet it is ongoing. It’s not as visible, of course, but I’m talking about those fault lines and tension points where the world could flare up. These are the points of tension where the interests of global powers collide,” Oleg Starikov emphasizes.
Regarding the Middle East, the expert notes that Iran, in just a few days, has drawn all the countries of the region and practically the entire world into the conflict. In other words, he explains, the Russian-Ukrainian war has affected the European theater, the Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict — Central Asia, while Iran has affected even Japan, South Korea, and China, because they receive oil from the Middle East. That means these are no longer local wars but regional ones.
According to the expert, there are concerns that all of this could even escalate into a world war, so the situation is very dangerous; the entire world and the major actors — the key subjects of global politics — remain silent.
“The Chinese are silent — they don’t know what to do. The Indians are silent — they don’t know what to do. As for the Japanese and Koreans, I’ve already mentioned them: they are now convening national security councils to decide what to do. Brazil is far away, but even it doesn’t know what to do. In fact, everyone is in shock. Everyone is shocked and doesn’t know where this will lead. What comes next?” Oleg Starikov concludes.
