Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman explained that Israel is a good country, but there are questions about some of its political figures—for example, Prime Minister Netanyahu, who associates at times with Putin and at times with Orbán.

He said this in his blog.

According to the expert, Netanyahu supported Orbán and sent him a congratulatory telegram. Meanwhile, in Budapest, he continues, various far-right figures gathered, and from Israel there was Netanyahu’s son—who, incidentally, is not particularly well regarded in Israel, as during the war he did not show up for mobilization but was vacationing in Miami.

“How do I feel about Netanyahu greeting Orbán? Of course, negatively. And how do you think I felt about Netanyahu going to Moscow on May 9 during Israel’s 2015 election campaign to celebrate, marching with Putin wearing the St. George ribbon? No one else came—only Netanyahu. No one, because Crimea had just been occupied. Netanyahu is a person who, on the one hand, has done a lot for Israel, but on the other hand acts using very dirty methods, not hesitating to associate with absolute monkeys—with Putin, with Orbán. He does not shy away from the dirtiest methods,” Mikhail Sheitelman explains.

According to the expert, during the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, Israel has had three prime ministers—Bennett, Lapid, and Netanyahu. Interestingly, he notes, only Lapid did not think to meet with Putin, whereas Bennett traveled to Sochi to bring gifts to Putin and later even claimed he had persuaded him not to kill Zelensky. Thus, the expert concludes, Israel is a wonderful country, but some of its political figures raise questions.

“And what can we do about it? It’s just one of those unavoidable circumstances. In any case, Netanyahu has elections this year—by October at the latest. They may even be early. We’ll see whether he survives. And whether Orbán survives these elections. Then we’ll see whether Netanyahu made a good choice. You know, I think Netanyahu is now embarrassed that he once put up posters with Putin. And he will be embarrassed that he supported Orbán,” Mikhail Sheitelman concludes.
