Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko spoke about the results of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ strike on the port in Ust-Luga and assessed the damage it caused to Russia, Politeka reports.

He discussed this on his blog.

According to the expert, it is gratifying when forecasts come true, as the Defense Forces struck Ust-Luga, the port continues to burn, and images of it have spread around the world. Moreover, he adds, the FSB icebreaker Purga was hit; it was seriously damaged and effectively sank.

“Russia used this vessel to chart routes and maintain navigational channels. Since last winter, poor weather conditions have been recorded in the Baltic Sea, with icing and frozen waters. So, of course, every icebreaker is important to them. But this one was struck,” explains Oleksandr Musiienko.

Oil and gas exports through the port in Ust-Luga, the expert notes, have been halted. Obviously, he says, the Russians will try to restore operations, but this will take time and money; meanwhile, they are incurring losses due to delayed deliveries, as well as additional costs for repairs.

“But who said this was the last strike by the Defense Forces on Ust-Luga, Primorsk, or Novorossiysk? The shadow fleet must have no life in the Black Sea, the Mediterranean, or the Baltic Sea. This is what the activities of the Defense Forces of Ukraine will be aimed at,” Oleksandr Musiienko concludes.
