Political strategist Mykhailo Sheitelman said that someone has been sinking Russian cargo ships carrying stolen Ukrainian grain. He shared this in his blog.
“This has long been a major problem: Russians are stealing grain—in the Kherson region, in Zaporizhzhia, in Donbas; grain is being taken out of Crimea, of course completely illegally. Russians steal grain like hamsters. But they don’t just consume it themselves—they also supply it to certain countries that are not squeamish about it. They are ready to sell stolen grain to anyone who doesn’t mind, mixing it with their own or with grain stolen elsewhere. And Zelensky told us that he has reached an agreement with Egypt on this issue,” Mykhailo Sheitelman notes.
As he emphasizes, “we are gradually bringing this region under our influence: first the Persian Gulf countries, then Syria and Libya, and now Egypt is joining, having committed not to import stolen Ukrainian grain from Russia anymore.”
The expert also says that someone decided to act preemptively and sank a Russian cargo ship with stolen wheat in the Sea of Azov. According to him, Saldo—the Moscow-installed head of the occupied part of the Kherson region—claimed that Ukraine was responsible, but “we don’t know; we weren’t there to witness it.” Nevertheless, the expert explains that if a cargo ship does not request official permission from Ukrainian authorities to pass near Ukrainian territory, “we have the right to sink such a vessel, since we are under martial law.”
“It was quite something to see those Russian sailors. They were lying on the beach, being revived, in torn clothes—like pirates of the Sea of Azov. They were washed ashore; the schooner had wrecked. Overall, I believe the strike against the pirates was very timely. And whoever may have hit that ship carrying stolen grain, in any case it can be counted among military victories,” Mykhailo Sheitelman concludes.
