Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musiienko explained the real purpose of Vance’s visit to Hungary on the eve of the elections and what interests the United States are pursuing, Politeka reports.

He spoke about this on his blog.

According to the expert, this is clearly a special operation to save Orban, but at the same time Vance used the visit to Budapest as a platform to criticize Brussels. It is clear, he notes, that MAGA has a different vision: they have repeatedly criticized EU policy, as they proceed from right-wing conservative views and want more autonomy for individual European countries. That is why Vance said that bureaucrats in Brussels are taking money away from Hungarians.

‘And he is speaking in support of Orban. I don’t think this will significantly affect the Hungarian prime minister’s chances. At least, polling indicates that Magyar, the leader of the opposition Tisza party, is winning. But you know what I was thinking about? I remember very well how in 2016 polling predicted Hillary Clinton’s victory in the U.S. elections. Yes, the electoral system is different, but there have been cases when polling was wrong. Not very often, but they do exist. And now they are trying to mobilize the electorate in support of Orban. Will he manage to win? April 12 will show,’ comments Oleksandr Musiienko.

Meanwhile, Western media, he notes, are writing about how openly Orban’s government is complimentary toward Putin. In particular, the expert says, Bloomberg reviewed a transcript of a conversation in which Orban assured Putin of his friendship and also mentioned a fable about a mouse that frees a lion.

‘Despite the rhetoric, the United States did not call on Orban to shout at the EU to lift sanctions against Russia. The primary interest is American economic interest. Therefore, Hungary will conclude a deal to purchase oil worth $500 million from the United States, not from Russia. Despite emotional statements, politics, and possible decisions, there are U.S. interests behind this, backed by large corporations and many well-known wealthy individuals who want to benefit from rising oil prices. This is not only Russia—there are such entrepreneurs in the United States as well. They propose supplying the European market with their own oil and gas, so their interests clearly do not align with the Kremlin,’ explains Oleksandr Musiienko.”
