Military expert Oleg Starikov stated that the Russian–Ukrainian war and the “Iran War 2.0” have shown that the main force today is no longer nuclear weapons or fighter jets, but the scaling of low-cost strike systems, reports Politeka.
He spoke about this on his channel.
“Features of transitional-period wars. The Russian–Ukrainian war and the ‘Iran War 2.0’ have shown that small and medium-sized states are capable of successfully countering large nuclear hegemons. Drones, which have revolutionized warfare in terms of both cost and effectiveness, outperform modern air defense systems and fourth-generation fighters—with ‘plus’ upgrades—as well as fifth-generation aircraft,” claims Oleg Starikov.
According to him, communications have always been and remain the nerves of the army; without them, it is impossible to conduct combat operations across multiple domains, and their speed is the key to success. Without creating an integrated reconnaissance-strike complex with 5G communications, the expert argues, victory is now practically impossible.
He also emphasizes that practical experience shows existing military alliances are no longer able to fulfill their tasks, leading to a weakening of NATO, and that a new military bloc involving states located in the European theater of operations may emerge in the future.
“The Russian–Ukrainian war and the ‘Iran War 2.0’ have shown that the main deterrence systems today are not nuclear triads, but the ability to mass-produce inexpensive strike means, rapidly scale production within weeks in geometric progression, and a society’s readiness to sacrifice lives in defense of its country,” concludes Oleg Starikov.
