Geopolitical analyst Yurii Buzduhan stated that the groundwork for a new system of collective security in Europe must be laid already now, and explained what this system will look like and who will be part of it, Politeka reports. He spoke about this on the program “7 Steps.”
As the guest of the program noted, European countries are moving and developing at different paces, particularly economically—Hungary and Poland are not Germany and France—and the same differences exist in security. There is a “mobilized Europe,” he argues, and this is not the “coalition of the willing,” but rather the countries bordering Russia, including Ukraine, Poland, the Baltic states, Norway, Finland, and Sweden. At the same time, there are more relaxed states such as Spain and Germany, whose economies are still operating in peacetime mode.
“Therefore, the new collective security system of Europe will involve a ‘frontier of freedom.’ This will be a group of countries that clearly understand that their very survival depends on whether they unite. Why? No single country is capable of resisting Russian aggression on its own—not even Ukraine. But if they all unite, nothing will be left of Russia. That is, if Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Baltic states, Poland, Ukraine, Moldova, and Turkey come together and stand as a barrier,” Yurii Buzduhan explains.
The expert also notes that when the First World War began, Warsaw was Russian; during the Second World War, Białystok was Russian—but today this is no longer the case, and at most Russia has Minsk. In other words, he explains, we see how Russia’s borders and geopolitical control have been pushed back eastward.
“After this war ends, Belarus will free itself from Russian occupation, because today Belarus is occupied. Yes, it is a hybrid, indirect occupation, but there is a colonial administration pretending to be a sovereign national government of Belarus. Everyone understands this: in Russia they understand it, Belarusians understand it, Europeans understand it, and we understand it. When Belarus becomes a democratic country, the Baltic–Dnipro geopolitical cluster will become the collective security system of the new Europe,” Yurii Buzduhan asserts.
