Political expert and serviceman Oleksandr Musienko explained that Umerov’s visit to Miami is unlikely to revive the negotiation track; the Russians have stopped it, while the U.S. is focused on the Middle East, reports Politeka.

He shared this in his blog.

As the expert notes, the head of the Ukrainian negotiation team, Umerov, went to the U.S. to meet with Witkoff, and the president gave him three tasks: a prisoner exchange, the activation of the diplomatic process, and specific security directives regarding cooperation with the U.S. Regarding the last point, he speculates, it may concern the development of the arms market.

“Are the negotiations already doomed? You can see this negotiation format falling apart. Russia is issuing an ultimatum: leave Donetsk, and only then will we continue the process. That is, they are trying to pressure us, to manipulate, but they are not talking about completely exiting the negotiation process. Trump has not commented on this issue yet. Interestingly, no one has commented at all. What do the Americans think about this? Or perhaps it’s some secret agreement between the Russians and Americans: Russia makes a statement, and the U.S. pretends not to notice. And they don’t really notice because things are unstable in the Middle East,” comments Oleksandr Musienko.

He explains that Iran attacked American ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the ceasefire is broken, and now war may resume. According to the expert, Iran could start striking oil infrastructure in the Persian Gulf countries, American military bases, or Israel, meaning the challenges remain.

“From all of this, we understand that U.S. attention is now returning to the Middle East. And at this moment, Moscow decided to pull a trick, try to manipulate, pressure, and declare from a position of strength that they are halting negotiations. This means we need to continue striking, to force the enemy, because negotiations are in question. And again, will the U.S. continue to fulfill its role as mediator? The question remains open. In reality, we may need to look for another one,” concludes Oleksandr Musienko.
