Electricity tariffs are not expected to increase for now, but that doesn't mean consumers should get too comfortable, as a price hike is still inevitable, Politeka reports.
Currently, the government does not plan to revise electricity tariffs, so residents will continue paying the same rate per kilowatt-hour as they did during the heating season.
According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, starting May 1, Ukrainians will continue paying 4 hryvnias and 32 kopecks per kilowatt-hour. These electricity tariffs remain in effect under government resolution No. 632. Therefore, no drastic changes in utility bills are expected in the near future.
For those using two-zone meters, there’s an opportunity to save a bit. During nighttime hours—from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.—the cost per kilowatt-hour is 2.16 UAH.
A separate system applies to those using electric heating. Previously, from October to the end of April, they benefited from a discounted rate of 2.64 UAH per kilowatt-hour, provided that consumption did not exceed 2,000 kilowatts. Even after the heating season ends, certain benefits will remain for this category of users.
They will only pay the full rate for consumption that exceeds the set limit. Any usage within the limit will be charged at the lower rate. The Ministry of Energy continues to assure that, as of now, there are no plans to change the current tariff policy.
